Day 5 of the Build and a Visit to a local Herding Family.

Day 5 and we are nearly done. This morning we laid a concrete floor in the house while the locals put up the roofing as we are not allowed to work above 1.5 metres coming from the nanny country!!!

In the afternoon we visited a herding family who are relatives of one of the Habitat staff here and shared yogurt, butter, bread and vodka made from yogurt with some very humbling hospitality from people who still live a nomadic herding existence.

The family patriach has won many horse races and still participates in the riding at the Nadam festival which will be held later during our time in Mongolia. Here he is showing us his medals and the hat which is worn by the local champion.

The generous offerings of yogurt, butter and bread. The yogurt was rather runny but very tasty. The butter was made that day and has no salt. The men also offered me a small container which I had to sniff which gave a refreshing effect in the nose. The vodka which is made from yogurt was rather tasteless but I am told is very strong.
